I have a rescue dog. This latest story about the Obama's new dog - well, it hits me in the gut.My dog, a yellow lab mix, was saved by a foster family in Georgia who removed her from a high kill shelter and brought her back to health after she had been thrown off a bridge in a garbage bag with two other yellow labs - WHO DIED.
I also have a RESCUE cat. After my first cat developed a brain tumor and passed away, I took my children to the local MSPCA and we spent three hours there ...and adopted a very loving cat.
The one Obama had delivered from the Kennedy's is NOT a rescue dog.
It may seem silly to bring this up with all that is going on in the world...but, this President is Pinocchio. He has lied about EVERY thing. His entire campaign - a lie.
Now the dog too?
SHARON THEIMER, of the AP wrote today: "Was his adoption engineered to look like a rescue — or at least blur the line to head off criticism that the Obamas had picked a purebred from a breeder?
The Humane Society's Pacelle acknowledged that the Obamas never flat-out promised to get a dog from a pound or rescue group. And the society has kind words for Obama on its Web site: "Thanks, Mr. President, for giving a second-chance dog a forever home," it says.
(BLAH BLAH - a pure breed Portuguese Water dog - same liter as Sen. Ed Kennedy's - SURE, that dog definitely needed RESCUE!)
"He's in a gray area," Pacelle said of Bo. "But I will say that many animal advocates are disappointed that he (Obama) didn't go to a shelter or breed rescue group, partly because he set that expectation and because so many activists are focused on trying to reduce the number of animals euthanized at shelters, and there's no better person to make the case to the American public that you can get a great dog from a shelter than the president."
MSPCA - Mr. Obama. That's where REAL adoptions take place.

Thanks for making all us true rescuers of animals - better people.
