America’s New Imperial Czars – Chicago’s Radical Cancer Has Now Officially Metastasized

This is a follow up to an earlier article: The Coming Revolution: The American Middle Class versus Saul Alinsky’s Radical Disciples

From a tiny Acorn a mighty yet cankerous Oak tree is now found everywhere in America. That is, a little group that started out in Chicago known as Acorn and other community organizations are now part of a massive Government forest of corruption and an Octopus with tentacles hiding everywhere. And though one could argue that this type of thing has been going on for many decades, the breadth and depth of this political dynamic has expanded exponentially with the ascendancy of Barak Obama to the Imperial Presidential throne.

Special interest labor unions who once fought hard to get a seat at the table now own the table. And unless you are a union member, a member of Hollywood glitterati, a Leftist media suit, a slip and fall lawyer, a businessman who has paid appropriate tribute, or part of the education elite you do not even get a seat at the table anymore. Certainly no conservative is allowed to even enter the palace of the Czars or the Imperial Philosopher King’s chambers. No longer do we have just a few relatively harmless unelected pencil pushers in the executive branch making life miserable for businesses and average Americans; we have an army of Czars – unelected and accountable to almost no one but the Philosopher King himself – Barak Obama. Where is the congressional oversight? Where is the judicial review regarding the Constitutionality of this alarming move by our President?

And who thought that using a title of Russian dictators – Czar would be a good idea for either a Republican or Democrat department head? The idea seemed harmless enough at first: Drug Czar, Anti-terrorism Czar, and Energy Czar. In fact, it was some pencil neck reporter for the Washington Post during WWII who labeled the first American Czar to oversee the war time economy. Considering the times, the use of the term was not the most important topic of discussion. TCS (Taxpayers for Common Sense) argues: "By our count there are at least 31 active Czars, (scratch that, the count just went up to 32) giving the current administration more Czars than Imperial Russia had in its history." It is a stretch to say that the Czars are a “shadow government” as Glenn Beck contends, because there are no shadows. Forget about government transparency. Obama and his Imperial Commissars have turned off the lights!

It is troubling when any President has an unelected Czar who controls a large portion of our country’s treasure, but it is shocking that an entire army of Czars under Obama are either directly or indirectly controlling literally trillions of dollars without any Congressional oversight whatsoever. Here is a list of these 32 and counting Czars (from www.glennbeck.com Aug 21, 2009):

1. Afghanistan Czar - Richard Holbrooke
2. AIDS Czar - Jeffrey Crowley
3. Auto Recovery Czar - Ed Montgomery
4. Border Czar - Alan Bersin
5. California Water Czar - David J. Hayes
6. Car Czar - Ron Bloom
7. Central Region Czar - Dennis Ross
8. Climate Czar - Todd Stern
9. Domestic Violence Czar - Lynn Rosenthal
10. Drug Czar - Gil Kerlikowske
11. Economic Czar - Paul Volcker
12. Energy and Environment Czar - Carol Browner
13. Faith-Based Czar - Joshua DuBois
14. Government Performance Czar - Jeffrey Zients
15. Great Lakes Czar - Cameron Davis
16. Green Jobs Czar - Van Jones
17. Guantanamo Closure Czar - Daniel Fried
18. Health Czar - Nancy-Ann DeParle
19. Information Czar - Vivek Kundra
20. Intelligence Czar - Dennis Blair
21. Mideast Peace Czar - George Mitchell
22. Pay Czar - Kenneth R. Feinberg
23. Regulatory Czar - Cass R. Sunstein
24. Science Czar - John Holdren
25. Stimulus Accountability Czar - Earl Devaney
26. Sudan Czar - J. Scott Gration
27. TARP Czar - Herb Allison
28. Technology Czar - Aneesh Chopra
29. Terrorism Czar - John Brennan
30. Urban Affairs Czar - Adolfo Carrion Jr.
31. Weapons Czar - Ashton Carter
32. WMD Policy Czar - Gary Samore

Without a doubt the most interesting Czar is his highness Van Jones – Mr. Green Jeans, I mean Mr. Green Jobs. As reported on www.glennbeck.com - He was arrested in the 1999 Seattle protests against the World Trade Organization. In jail, he said, "I met all these young radical people of color -- I mean really radical, communists and anarchists. And it was, like, 'This is what I need to be a part of.'" Although he already had a plane ticket, he decided to stay in San Francisco. "I spent the next ten years of my life working with a lot of those people I met in jail, trying to be a revolutionary." In the months that followed, he let go of any lingering thoughts that he might fit in with the status quo. "I was a rowdy nationalist on April 28th, and then the verdicts came down on April 29th," he said. "By August, I was a communist." In 1994, the young activists formed a socialist collective, Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement, or STORM, which held study groups on the theories of Marx and Lenin and dreamed of a multiracial socialist utopia.

This resume certainly qualifies him for a cushy job in government service. Have we really gotten to the point where an out right communist, Marxist anarchist is allowed to develop policy for this great country founded on the principles of limited government, private property, civil society and the rule of law with nary a peep from our representatives?

In fairness, it appears that 6 of the 32 Czars have actually been confirmed by the senate. That only leaves 26 unconfirmed mini-dictators who report to no one other than to his highness on domestic issues or her thighness on foreign affairs. When one looks at the issues these people control, one is left feeling that somehow there is a better way to do things. Some of these positions are rather pedestrian when measured by importance to the Executive Department. Certainly they have some value but do the following rise to the level of needing a specialized guru to handle? Such as: Urban Affairs; Green Jobs; Pay (executive); Stimulus Accountability; Guantanamo Closing; Aids; Auto Recovery; California Water; Great Lakes and last but certainly not least Government Performance Czar. If there were objective measures, all of these Czars would fail – especially the Government Performance Czar. Simply, the 10th Amendment has been dormant too long. Most of these appointments not directly concerned with the National Defense and National Security would be handled better and more efficiently by the States, local governments and yes, WE the People.

Of course, these Czars are hand picked by the Philosopher King himself, and after all we are merely the warriors or the worker class in this new Republic. So we do not really have a say anymore. It appears that in this new Republic there is one more critical segment of the population: members of unions, groups like Acorn, and other miscellaneous drones. Although this group is a key and very visible carcinoma to the body politic, this group is essentially made up of a class of serfs whose only real job is being paid protesters. They think they have a say, but they are merely trained pets and puppets who are easily manipulated and are moved about from here to there like pieces on a chess board. College educated radicals in the Saul Alinsky School of community organizing are their leaders.

So the dots are connected like this: The members are trained and directed by the community organization leaders. These leaders are manipulated and motivated by the education and indoctrination establishment and the billionaire national and international puppet masters like George Soros. In the end, the members of the community organizations don’t really do much other than show up en masse at rallies and for this they are rewarded for their obedience with a few crumbs and empty promises from the Philosopher King. The question is just who are the puppet masters who have made it possible for the Philosopher King to rule? If one accepts that this may indeed be the way the puzzle fits together, all that is left is an uneasy feeling: Is this what Plato had in mind when he wrote the Republic?

One thing Plato left out of his Republic is the brilliant law our Founders gave us known as advice and consent. This is the authority given by the U.S. Constitution to the Senate to ratify treaties and confirm presidential cabinet, ambassadorial, and judicial appointments. Article II, Sec. 2.2, of the Constitution gives the president the right to negotiate foreign treaties and to nominate individuals to high-ranking government positions, including “other public ministers and consuls”. Sec. 2.2 requires the Senate to approve treaties by a two thirds majority, while presidential appointments require a simple majority. The advice and consent requirement is an example of one of the checks and balances built into the Constitution with the real and intended goal to limit PRESIDENTIAL POWER. Without strict oversight, the President’s powers have expanded and because our elected representatives do not have visibility into this Czar process, we have no idea how much power they really have and how many of our freedoms are being trampled on as the days move forward.

What started out as a way to help expedite the war effort during WWII has now officially turned into a nasty monster that must be ended. What power does Congress really have if the Imperious Philosopher King now bypasses the entire process of advice and consent? The answer of course is none. Today most of Congress and the Judiciary appear to like it that way. After all, Congressmen and Senators spend most of their time raising money to get re-elected and they have little time for silly things like representing their constituency, and the judiciary has been stacked with judges who seemed to have missed that day in law school that instructed them about Article II, Sec.2 requiring advice and consent for presidential appointments.

It is important to remember that Sec 2.2 advice and consent applies not only to ambassadors or judges but public ministers and consuls. It is fair to argue that this fabricated classification of Czars falls under this category of public ministers or consuls. Our Senators must take their responsibility for advice and consent seriously and begin to vet these so called Czars and abide by the Constitution. It was a bad idea when Roosevelt started this practice during WWII. It is a worse idea today. Now it is time for this perfidious practice to end or risk rebellion from those patriots who believe in abiding by the Constitution and fear that a new Imperial Presidency and Congress are starting to resemble the tyrannical Monarchy that led to our original Revolution. Obama’s Chicago community organizations have now become massive weeds in our political forest. These new Acorns have taken root and are destroying the field of dreams that once inhabited the shining city on the hill.

Looks like the radical socialist chickened out on debating this article.

In Defense Of Capitalism

From Ayn Rand: "No man has the right to seek values from others by means of physical force--i.e., no man or group has the right to initiate the use of physical force against others. Men have the right to use force only in self-defense and only against those who initiate its use. Men must deal with one another as traders, giving value for value, by free, mutual consent to mutual benefit. The only social system that bars physical force from human relationships is laissez-faire capitalism.

Capitalism is a system based on the recognition of individual rights, including property right, in which the only function of the government is to protect individual rights, i.e., to protect men from those who initiate the use of physical force. I reject any form of fascism or socialism. I also reject any form of a mixed economy that regulates and redistributes wealth."

I do not imagine that every person who joins or reads The Political Coffeehouse would agree with my exact philosophy. But I do believe that we should join together to in order to further goals that we can agree on. The implementation of Marxist policies in the United States must be stopped. J. Michael Warner
