Isabella County Jail telephones
December 22nd, 2011
Telephones are abundant in the Isabella County Jail in Michigan. In fact, every cell has a phone inside of it. This is almost unheard of in the United States. The downside is that inmates have to buy telephone cards which cost a couple of bucks per minute to call out. If an inmate has a credit card number memorized they can also make phone calls. This is unusual because most jails now offer collect calls; having credit card numbers memorized could lead to inmates sharing card numbers and essentially running up bills for each other (resulting in jailhouse fighting). All calls are recorded by the jail and any self-incriminating conversation can be used against you in a court of law.
